On July 20 and 21, 2013, lightning strikes started two fires (Playground and Rocky) in the area of the Emigrant Pass Observatory. A visit to the site on August 19, 2013 found a burned landscape and a melted observatory. We are still trying to revive the station and it is curently offline.
