EPO is a weather station on top of a 150m borehole, which can be used for investigating the energy balance of the Earth's surface, reconstruction of paleoclimate from borehole temperatures, and other geothermal investigations.
EPO is maintained by the Thermal Geophysics Group at the University of Utah.
